INTRODUCTION
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a graded evaluation test of the English language proficiency for non-English speakers. Established in 1989, IELTS is one of the most popular competitive exams conducted by the British Council, Idp Australia and Cambridge Assessment English jointly. IELTS tests a person’s expertise of the English language in listening, reading, writing and speaking. IELTS is accepted mainly in UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada.
IELTS Exams
There are two types of IELTS tests; IELTS Academic and IELTS General.
IELTS Academic:-
IELTS Academic is for aspirants who wish to get higher education or professional registration in a foreign country. It tests the person’s capability to study or work in an English speaking atmosphere.
IELTS General:-
IELTS General is for candidates wishing to migrate to or study below undergraduate level in English speaking countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. It basically tests the person’s overall understanding of the English language in social and workplace context.
IELTS test format and scores:-
An IELTS exam has 4 parts; listening, reading, writing and speaking. For each skill the score is between 0 and 9. The average of all the band scores is the overall band score or final score.

ACADEMIC / GENERAL TRAINING
IELTS is available in: Academic – for people applying for higher education or professional registration, and General Training for those migrating to Australia, Canada and the UK, or applying for secondary education, training programs and work experience in an English-speaking environment. Both versions provide a valid and accurate assessment of the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
